Top 5 Food Fragrances

Forget about Chanel No. 5 or Old Spice. You can now smell like whiskey! Commodity recently introduced a range of interesting fragrances, including Whiskey-scented cologne. Of course, Commodity is not the first company to release a food/drink-inspired perfume. Here is our Top 5 of food fragrances, available in stores or online:

1. Bacon Cologne

Bacon Cologne

We already knew that there are a lot of crazy bacon products out there, but we didn’t know about Fargginay’s Bacōn cologne. Fargginay offers two bacon cologne formulas. Bacōn Classic is a spicy maple scent with an essential oil blend of bergamot, orange, lime, grapefruit, black pepper, cedar wood, vetiver, guaiacwood, and of course bacon. Bacōn Gold features an essential oil blend of mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, nutmeg, pimento berry, black pepper, and a hint of bacony goodness. Both scents are unisex, but according to reviews Bacōn Gold smells more feminine because of its citrus aroma. A bottle of bacon cologne will set you back $36 (£23,52).

2. Barbecue Cologne

Barbecue Cologne

Summer seems so far away, especially since the weather is not cooperating. But with Pork Barrel BBQ’s barbecue cologne, you can smell like the perfect summer barbecue! Their unique fragrance is called Que, and it features ‘an intoxicating bouquet of spices, smoke, meat, and sweet summer sweat.’ Yum? You can buy a bottle of Que for $24,95 (£16,30).

3. Lobster Cologne

Lobster Cologne

Lobster. A delicious and decadent treat. And a perfume by Demeter Fragrance Library. Yes, really. If you want to smell like a creature of the sea, here’s your chance! Demeter calls it their most obtuse fragrance. It features a bouquet of the sea, sweet meat, and a hint of drawn butter. Lobster isn’t Demeter’s only weird food/drink fragrance. They also offer the following interesting ‘tasty’ scents: Beetroot, Birthday Cake, Bourbon, Brownie, Celery, Condensed Milk, Fiery Curry, Sushi and Waffles. The largest bottle of Lobster cologne costs $39,50 (£25,80).

4. Whiskey Cologne

Whiskey Cologne

Ever since Mad Men aired, whiskey sales have soared. Perhaps perfumier Commodity was inspired by the hit TV show? You can pre-order a 100ml bottle of Whiskey cologne for $65 (£42,45). Commodity is a new fragrance company, still in its Kickstarter phase. The men’s fragrances include Whiskey, Gin, Cloth, Wool, Cane, Moss, Book, Gold, Oak and Paper. The women’s fragrances include Tea, Pinot, Mimosa, Ivy, Wool, Magnolia, Moss, Gold, Dew and Paper.

5. Tamale Perfume

Tamale Perfume

Perfumer and scientist Zorayda Ortiz created a line of tamale perfumes. Tamale is a Mesoamerican dish made of masa (dough, usually made from corn), which is filled with a number of ingredients, and then steamed or boiled in a leaf wrapper. According to Ortiz, who comes from Puerto Rico, the perfumes are meant to capture Latin culture. The tamale perfumes are part of Ortiz’ La Dieciocho collection, and smells like steamed corn tamales, red chilies, and juicy pork. A bottle of Tamale perfume costs $25 (£16,33).
